Elizabeth Blackburn, Jack Szostak and Carol Greider are the 3 Americans that shared 2009 Nobel medicine prize for the year 2009. They won the award for their discovery on a key mechanism in the genetic operations of cells.
They were the ones that solved the mystery of chromosomes protect themselves from degrading when cells devide.
