Is August 23, 2010 a holiday? Nope. It is a “Regular Working Day” signed and declared by President Benigno “P-Noy” Aquino III as opposed to the early announcementfrom Holiday Economics set by the former President President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
P-Noy wants the commemoration of his father’s death anniversary to be on its exact date that would fall August 21, 2010 (Saturday) and a non-working holiday. I’m sure many people who are used with the holidays being imposed by the Arroyo administration will not be happy about it. But i think there’s a positive impact on the Philippine economy about leaving the exact holiday dates alone.
August 21 – non-working holiday
August 23 – regular working day
